Erling Haaland is on course to set two single season Premier League goal scoring records. He is one shy of Alan Shearer’s record of five hattricks in a single Premier League campaign and nine goals ahead of Harry Kane in the race for this season’s Golden Boot award. If Haaland continues scoring at his current rate, he will overtake Mohamed Salah’s record for the most goals in a 38match season against Newcastle United in Matchweek 26 and surpass Andrew Cole and Shearer’s marks versus West Ham United two weeks later. However, Luis Suarez’s cautionary tale from 2013/14 serves as a reminder that the record is not guaranteed.
