Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov asserted Monday that the invasion of Ukraine is no longer a hybrid conflict, but a “real” war between Russia and the West. This comes as NATO is considering sending Leopard tanks to Ukraine, a move which Moscow is concerned about. Lavrov’s rhetoric is part of an information operation to deter the West from supplying military aid to Ukraine. Poland, Finland, and the U.S. have all indicated their support for Ukraine in different forms, but Germany has so far balked at supplying Leopard tanks. Criticism and calls for investigations have intensified from both sides of the political aisle in light of the situation.
