Peace agreement heralds slight increase in tourists

Mulugeta Ababu, a guide and tour operator for Exclusive Ethiopia, has noticed a slight increase in seasonal tourists following the Ethiopian peace accord, but is unsure if it is due to the peace agreement. Many embassies have imposed travel restrictions, and the government needs to make changes to lift the ban. Susan Aitchison, a retired teacher and restaurant owner, has seen an increase in tourists since returning from the UK three years ago. The state minister for tourism, Sileshi Girma, has stated that the tourism sector has been significantly affected, but the government has been holding meetings and workshops to keep the industry from collapsing. There has been an increase in both air and land travel, especially in Moyale and along the Sudan border.
