ኢትዮጵያ በተባበሩት መንግስታት ድርጅት ትዕዛዝ በትግራይ ጦርነት ላይ የሚደረገውን ምርመራ ለማቆም ትፈልጋለች

በትግራይ ጦርነት የአፍሪካን እና ምዕራባውያን ሃገራትን ሊከፋፍል የሚችል ግፍ እና በተባበሩት መንግስታት ድርጅት በኩል የሚያቀርበውን ጥያቄ ኢትዮጵያ ለማቆም እየሞከረች ነው። በግጭቱ ውስጥ ያሉት ሁለቱም ወገኖች በጦር ወንጀሎች እና በሌሎች የመብት ጥሰቶች የተከሰሱ ሲሆን ምርመራው እነዚህ ክሶች እውነት መሆናቸውን “ለማመን የሚያበቃ ምክንያት” አግኝቷል። በተባበሩት መንግስታት የሰብአዊ መብቶች ምክር ቤት የዩኤስ አምባሳደር ተቃውሞውን ይቃወማል, ይህም ከፀደቀው አስፈሪ ምሳሌ ሊሆን ይችላል. ሞሽኑ እስካሁን በይፋ አልቀረበም እና ኢትዮጵያን ለማሳመን እየተሰራ ነው። በውሳኔው ላይ የሚሰጠው ድምጽ ጥብቅ እና የምዕራባውያን ሀገራትን ከአፍሪካ አጋሮች ጋር ሊያጣላ ይችላል።

Ethiopia is attempting to cut short a U.N.mandated inquiry into atrocities in the Tigray war, which could divide African and Western nations. Both sides of the conflict have been accused of war crimes and other abuses, and the inquiry has found “reasonable grounds to believe” that these accusations are true. The U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Human Rights Council opposes the motion, which could set a terrible precedent if passed. The motion has not yet been formally submitted, and there are ongoing efforts to dissuade Ethiopia. The vote on the motion would be tight and could potentially pit Western countries against African partners.
