ቴክኖሎጂዎች ለአፍሪካ የግብርና ትራንስፎርሜሽን ፕሮግራም በኢትዮጵያ ቆላማ አካባቢዎች የስኬት ድምጾችን አስከትሏል

አርሶ አደር ይልማ ማሞ በ2018 በተጀመረው ቴክኖሎጂ ለአፍሪካ የግብርና ትራንስፎርሜሽን (TAAT) ተነሳሽነት ተጠቃሚ ከሆኑ በርካታ አነስተኛ አርሶ አደሮች መካከል አንዱ ናቸው።TAAT ሙቀትን የሚቋቋም የስንዴ ዝርያዎችን በማቅረብ ማሞ እና ሌሎች አርሶ አደሮች የበለጠ ትርፋማ ምርት እንዲሰጡ አስችሏቸዋል። ማሞ 280 አባላት ያሉት የገበሬዎች ህብረት ስራ ማህበር አካል ሲሆን በቲኤቲ የገንዘብ ድጋፍ የተደረገ የስንዴ ዘር እና በሙቀት መቋቋም የሚችል እህል በማልማት ላይ ስልጠና የወሰዱ ናቸው። የስንዴ ዝርያዎችን በአገር አቀፍ ደረጃ መሰማራቱን ተከትሎ በ2022 የኢትዮጵያ የስንዴ ምርት በ1 ነጥብ 6 ሚሊየን ሜትሪክ ቶን በማደግ ሀገሪቱ የስንዴ ምርት ራሷን ችላለች። የአፍሪካ ልማት ባንክ ቡድን በጃንዋሪ 2022 ዳካር 2 የአፍሪካ የምግብ ጉባኤን እያስተናገደ ሲሆን የአህጉሪቱን የምግብ የማምረት አቅም ለማሳደግ አፍሪካዊ መፍትሄዎች ውይይት የሚደረግበት ነው።

Farmer Yilma Mamo is one of many smallholder farmers in Ethiopia who have benefitted from the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) initiative, which was launched in 2018. TAAT provides heattolerant wheat varieties that have allowed Mamo and other farmers to produce more profitable harvests. Mamo is part of a 280member farmers’ cooperative who have received TAATfunded wheat seed and training on growing the heattolerant grains. Following the nationwide deployment of the wheat varieties, Ethiopia’s wheat production increased by 1.6 million metric tonnes in 2022 and the country has achieved wheat production selfsufficiency. The African Development Bank Group is cohosting the Dakar 2 Africa Food Summit in January 2022, where Africanled solutions to increase the continent’s food production capacity will be discussed.
