ብሄር ተኮር ሽብር ኢትዮጵያን እያስገረፈ ቀጥሏል።

ኢትዮጵያ በ11 ክልሎች የተከፋፈለች ትልቅ ሀገር ስትሆን በደርዘን የሚቆጠሩ ብሄር/ጎሳዎች የሚኖሩባት ነች። ኦሮሚያ ትልቁ ክልል ሲሆን የኦሮሞ ህዝብ ትልቁን ብሄር ሲሆን የአማራ ህዝብ ይከተላል። በኦሮሚያ እና አጎራባች ክልሎች የአማራ ተወላጆች ላይ ያነጣጠረ ጭፍጨፋ ከጀርባ ሆነው የኦሮሞ ፅንፈኞች ሲሆኑ በርካቶች የዘር ማጥፋት ነው ብለው ያምናሉ። የኦሮሞ ነጻነት ሰራዊት ከሁከቱ በስተጀርባ ያለው የመርህ ሃይል ሲሆን በክልል አሸባሪ ቡድኖች፣ በወንጀል ቡድኖች እና በኦሮሞ ልዩ ሃይል (ኦኤስኤፍ) ውስጥ ባሉ አንጃዎች ይደገፋል። ጠቅላይ ሚንስትር አብይ ኦላአን “ለማስወገድ” ቃል ገብተዋል ነገርግን ይህ ለመፈጸም አስቸጋሪ ሆኖበታል። ከሁከቱ በተጨማሪ በአዲስ አበባና አካባቢው እየተጠናከረ የመጣ የቤት ማፍረስ ፕሮግራም አለ ኦሮሞ ያልሆኑ ባለቤቶች (በዋነኛነት አማራ) እየተጎዱ ነው። በኢትዮጵያ ዘላቂ ሰላም እንዲሰፍን የህገ መንግስት ማሻሻያ እና የክልል ታጣቂዎችን ትጥቅ ማስፈታት አስፈላጊ ሲሆን ሰፊ ዲሞክራሲያዊ ተሳትፎን የሚያበረታቱ እና የብሄራዊ አንድነት ስሜትን የሚያበረታቱ ፖሊሲዎች መተግበር አለባቸው።

Ethiopia is a large country divided into 11 regions and is home to dozens of ethnic/tribal groups. Oromia is the largest region and the Oromo people constitute the largest ethnic group, followed by the Amhara people. Oromo extremists have been behind a targeted slaughter of Amhara people in Oromia and neighboring regions, which many believe constitutes genocide. The Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) is the principle force behind the violence, and is supported by regional terror groups, criminal gangs, and factions within the Oromo Special Forces (OSF). Prime Minister Abiy has vowed to “eliminate” the OLA, but this has been difficult to accomplish. In addition to the violence, there is a house demolitions program that has been intensifying in and around Addis Ababa, with nonOromo owners (mainly Amhara) being affected. Constitutional reform and disarming of regional militia is needed for lasting peace in Ethiopia, and policies that encourage broad democratic participation and a sense of national unity must be put in place.
