Ethiopia has been managing its exchange rate for the birr, but the IMF has recommended moving to a marketdetermined exchange rate. Ethiopia requested debt restructuring in 2021, but a civil war in its Tigray region delayed progress. Ethiopia’s government has turned to the IMF for help, which requires debt relief commitments from creditors and an adoption of a more flexible exchange rate. Ethiopia is gradually implementing these changes while the Tigray region is being reconnected to the national power grid and disarming per the peace deal. Eritrean troops are still present.

ኢትዮጵያ የብር ምንዛሪ ተመንን ስትመራ ቆይታለች፣ ነገር ግን IMF ወደ ገበያ ወደተዘጋጀ የምንዛሪ ተመን እንድትሸጋገር መክሯል። ኢትዮጵያ እ.ኤ.አ. በ 2021 የዕዳ ማሻሻያ ጥያቄ ጠየቀች ፣ ነገር ግን በትግራይ ክልል የእርስ በእርስ ጦርነት እድገትን አዘገየ ። የኢትዮጵያ መንግስት ለእርዳታ ወደ አይኤምኤፍ ዞሯል፣ ይህም ከአበዳሪዎች የብድር እፎይታ ቁርጠኝነትን እና የበለጠ ተለዋዋጭ የምንዛሪ ተመን ማፅደቅን ይጠይቃል። የትግራይ ክልል ከብሄራዊ የሃይል አውታር ጋር እየተገናኘ እና በሰላም ስምምነቱ ትጥቅ እየፈታ እያለ ኢትዮጵያ ቀስ በቀስ እነዚህን ለውጦች ተግባራዊ እያደረገች ነው። የኤርትራ ወታደሮች አሁንም አሉ።
