Ethiopia earned $32.61 million from exporting electricity to Sudan and Djibouti during the last five months of the Ethiopian fiscal year. The income obtained was down by $6.2 million compared to the same period of the previous year due to reduced demand from the Sudanese electricity company. Relations between Sudan and Ethiopia have been strained over the disputed border region of alFashaga and Ethiopia’s mega dam project. Last year, Ethiopia earned $95.45 million from electricity exports to the two east African countries, with 1,109 GWh of electricity sold to Sudan and 600 GWh to Djibouti. Ethiopia is investing billions of dollars in its mega dam project to become the regional power hub.

ኢትዮጵያ በበጀት ዓመቱ ባለፉት አምስት ወራት የኤሌክትሪክ ኃይል ወደ ሱዳንና ጅቡቲ ከላከችው 32.61 ሚሊዮን ዶላር ገቢ አገኘች። የተገኘው ገቢ ከሱዳኑ ኤሌክትሪክ ኩባንያ የሚፈልገው መጠን በመቀነሱ ከአምናው ተመሳሳይ ወቅት ጋር ሲነጻጸር በ6 ነጥብ 2 ሚሊዮን ዶላር ቅናሽ አሳይቷል። በሱዳን እና በኢትዮጵያ መካከል ያለው ግንኙነት በአወዛጋቢው በአልፋሻጋ የድንበር ክልል እና በኢትዮጵያ ሜጋዳም ፕሮጀክት ላይ የሻከረ ነው። ባለፈው አመት ኢትዮጵያ ወደ ሁለቱ የምስራቅ አፍሪካ ሀገራት ከላከችው የኤሌክትሪክ ሀይል 95.45 ሚሊየን ዶላር ያገኘች ሲሆን፥ 1,109 GW ኤሌክትሪክ ለሱዳን እና 600 GWh ለጅቡቲ በመሸጥ ላይ ነች። ኢትዮጵያ በሜጋዳም ኘሮጀክቷ ላይ በቢሊዮን የሚቆጠር ዶላር በማፍሰስ የክልል የሀይል ማዕከል ለመሆን እየሰራች ነው።
