Meaza Ashenafi and her deputy, Solomon Areda Waktolla have resigned from their roles as President and Deputy President of the Federal Supreme Court. Their replacements, Assistant Professor Tewdros Mihret and Federal Supreme Court Judge Abeba Embiale have been approved by the Parliament. The initial nomination of Chief Justice Meaza and her deputy was praised as a historic moment when it happened in 2018. Solomon has recently been appointed as a halftime judge of the United Nations Dispute Tribunal.
